Cape Codder –> Vodka Cranberry, Simple and Popular

The Ocean Spray cranberry grower’s cooperative came up
with the drink in 1945. They called it a “Red Devil”.

The company was started and is headquartered in Massachusetts.
Cape Cod MA. is a popular summer time vacation spot.

It was in the 1960’s someone came up with the drink name
Cape Codder.

Most people ordering the drink simply ask for a vodka, cranberry.

Cape Cod AKA Vodka Cranberry served in a highball

Cape Cod

Highball or Tall glass
Fill with ice

 Vodka – 1.5 ounces

Fill with Cranberry Juice
Garnish with Lime wedge

I wander how many thousands of these I served over the years.

Almost always ordered as vodka cranberry or vodka cran.
It was rare that someone would order it as a Cape Cod.

If they did, it was usually someone thinking that it’s a cute
idea to throw a drink name at a bartender to see “how good”
the bartender is.

This of course is a very bad idea for the customer, especially
at a busy time.  The service that customer gets from that point
on will probably be slow, at best.
